A record for NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales

On the final day of the 2017 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity, Saturday, October 14, it was standing room only in John Justin Sale Arena, for Session II of the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales, at Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth. A strong market with 88% final sales had been affirmed on Friday in Session I of the Yearling and Broodmare Sale, and the Select Two-Year-Old Sale had averaged $19,669.

When the final gavel fell on the two-day NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales, a record total of 243 horses (31% more horses than in 2016) had sold for an average of $12,461 and a total of $3,028,100, compared to the 2016 sum total of $2,288,000. Consignors and buyers included leading breeders, owners and trainers in both the NRCHA and the NCHA.

Highlights from the sales sessions included Shiine, at $90,000, high seller in the Select Two-Year-Old Sale. The buckskin son of One Time Pepto, was consigned by John and Melanie Lowrance, in training with Hunter Meinzer; Short On Sugar 016, a buckskin colt sired by Kit Kat Sugar and high-seller in Session I of the Select Yearling and Broodmare Sale at $44,000; and My Cats Hips R Metal, a 2016 colt by Metallic Cat and the top-seller in Session I of the Select Yearling and Broodmare Sale at $35,000.
