Heads up at Mid-Year Cutting Horse Sale

Swing Thru The Drive, by Hydrive Cat, was the high-seller at $80,000 at the Mid-Year Cutting Horse Sale.

The 2022 Western Bloodstock Mid-Year Cutting Horse Sale Session, with an average of $22,468, topped last year’s record-breaking Mid-Year Session by more than $1,000 per head. Held on Saturday, July 23 during the NCHA Summer Spectacular in Fort Worth’s Will Rogers Equestrian Center, the Mid-Year Session was followed by the Rising S Ranch Absolute Dispersal. Overall, 87% of the total day’s offering sold.

Swing Thru The Drive (LTE $104,036, by Hydrive Cat), consigned by Rising S Ranch, was the overall high-seller at $80,000. The 12-year-old producer of three money earners, including Driving Miss Em (LTE $101,981, by Woody Be Tuff), sold with an embryo by Stevie Rey Von and was purchased by SDP Ranch, Fort Worth, Texas.

Four-year-old Rebellena (LTE $20,531, by Metallic Rebel), consigned by Marvin Marmande, was the Mid-Year Session’s high-seller at $66,000. In training with Marvin Marmande, the red roan filly is out of the TR Dual Rey daughter Purrin Again, dam of five money earners.

Metelesness (LTE $67,772, by Metallic Cat), consigned by Rising S Ranch with an embryo by Rollz Royce, went to Billy Wolf, Whiteboro, Texas for $50,000. The 8-year-old bay roan mare’s oldest foal is a 2-year-old by Dual Smart Rey.

Mystical Metallic (LTE $42,595, by Metallic Cat), consigned by Johnsrud Ranch, brought $46,000, the Mid-Year Session’s second-highest price. The 6-year-old sorrel mare, bred to Dual Smart Rey, is out of $611,711 producer Smart Lookin Hi Brow (LTE $216,395) and was purchased by Cooper Smith, Whitesboro, Texas.

Tagged Back In, consigned by JH Nail Ranch, brought $43,000 from Curt Arey, Milo, Iowa. The blue roan filly is by NCHA Open World Champion Hashtags, whose first foals are slated to compete in the 2022 NCHA Futurity. Tagged Back In is out of Awesome Autumn, whose dam, Autumn Boon, is the #4 All-Time Leading Dam of Cutting Money Earners of $2,028,256.
