2022 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales averages top the charts on first day

Rey Of Diamond brought the high price of $100,000 on the first day of the Western Bloodstock NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales.

An enthusiastic crowd was on hand October 21, at Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, Texas, to kick off the two-day slate of 2022 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales. The result was a strong first-day Select Yearling and Broodmare Session average of $24,826, an increase of more than $1,500 over the 2021 Session.

Day One’s Session I high-seller was Rey Of Diamond at $100,000. The yearling Stevie Rey Von daughter was consigned by Stevenson’s Quarter Horses/Bill Stevenson and purchased by Triple D Ranch, Dyer, Nev. A half-sister to Shiners Diamond Cat (LTE $145,992, by WR This Cats Smart), Rey Of Diamond is out of Shiners Diamond Lady (by Shining Spark), who is also the dam of Smart Ladies Sparkle (LTE $82,145, by WR This Cats Smart).

Yearling filly Little Shining Cat brought $74,000, the Session’s second-highest price, from Triple D Ranch, Dyer, Nev. Consigned by Wagonhound Land & Livestock, Little Shining Cat is by WR This Cats Smart and out of the Shining Spark daughter Shining Madonna, a producer of barrel racing money-earners.

Consignor Wagonhound Land & Livestock also realized the Session’s third-highest price, $60,000, with the sale of This One Annie to Ty Smith, Whitesboro, Tex. The yearling daughter of WR This Cats Smart is out of Annies One Time ($74,412, by One Time Pepto), a third-placed NRCHA Futurity Open finalist whose first foals arrived in 2021. Second dam Shiney Nu Annie ($102,961, by Shining Spark), is a NRCHA Open Futurity reserve champion and 2021 QData Top 5 Leading dam of NRCHA Money Earners.

Day One of the 2022 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Sales also realized an average of $28,765 for the Select Two-Year-Olds Session.

Stevies Got Genes, consigned by Bubba and Madison Garcia, and Meradas Outlaw, consigned by Tom or Carmen Buckingham, each brought the top price of $50,000. Stevies Got Genes, purchased by Cooper Smith, Whitesboro, Texas, and in training with Bubba Garcia, is by Stevie Rey Von out of NRCHA Non-Pro Futurity champion SDP Got Fancy Genes (LTE $48,040 by RC Fancy Step).

Meradas Outlaw, a palomino colt in training with Jim Berrett, was purchased by Samuel Shaw, Plain City, Utah. Sired by Shiney Outlaw, Meradas Outlaw is out of Pearlescent Cat (LTE $6,000, by Cats Merada) and a half-brother to NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited third-place finalist Pearls Blue Boon (LTE $19,281, by Once In A Blu Boon), as well Cat At Heart (LTE $12,014, by Heart Of A Fox), a NRCHA Int. Non-Pro Futurity champion.
